Borrowing Privileges & Lending Policy
To create a library account and obtain free borrowing privileges, residents of New Harmony or Harmony Township may visit the Working Men’s Institute with a proper form of identification and proof of address. Non-residents may obtain borrowing privileges by paying a fee. Public Library Access Cards (PLAC) may also be purchased for $65.00.
Individuals with library cards from other Indiana libraries may also be eligible to check out materials due to the statewide reciprocal borrowing agreement. Click here for a list of participating libraries.
Books, magazines, and DVDs may be checked out for a period of two weeks. One renewal may be requested, in person or by phone (812-682-4806), for each item checked out. Fines may be charged for overdue items at a rate of 5¢ per day. Borrowing privileges may be revoked for failure to return items. Patrons may also be charged a replacement fee for any lost or damaged materials.
