The Cup that Heals the World: The Grail as Transformative Symbol.
Grail mythology and legend have long been regarded as mysterious sources of spiritual abundance and fulfillment. Joseph Campbell, however, interpreted the Quest for the Holy Grail as a profound symbol: the ultimate journey of the human spirit, transcending dogma and institutional boundaries to enter the landscape of the soul. For Campbell, the Grail was not an ancient relic carried by angels, but rather a symbol of healing and transformation, representing the restoration of the world’s wounded soul through the renewal of individual hearts. This presentation examines Campbell’s interpretation of the Grail legend as an archetype of the soul’s transformative journey, encompassing individuation and enlightenment. The Grail, in this view, calls individuals to pursue their own bliss, not for personal acclaim, but in service to life itself. The blessings of the Grail are not received passively but are channeled through the individual.
