Mollie Hanes Collection     Mollie Hanes resided in Wadesville, Indiana.  She was very active in the Republican Party.  Sometime after her death, her personal effects were auctioned at Wilson’s Auction in New Harmony.  The items in this collection were purchased and then donated to the WMI by Barbara and Harold Karger. The America Welch Collection American Welch lived in Griffin, Indiana her entire life, 1902-1996. Her family endured the 1925 tornado that devastated Griffin. Her youngest brother died in the event. Coming home from her teaching job in Cynthiana, America was one of the first eye-witnesses to the destruction. For years she was a columnist for America Welch Collection

The Pelham Collection               The Pelham family connection with New Harmony begins with William Pelham, 1759-1827.  Born in Williamsburg, VA, he was a surgeon in the Revolutionary War.  From Zanesville, Ohio, where he was postmaster and editor of the Ohio Republic, he came to join the Owen community early in 1825.  His letters of The Pelham Collection
